Really???

Now, don't get me wrong, ladies...I LURVE me some New Kids. However, here's the question of the day:

Would you pay $2,131 for a ticket to an NKOTB reunion tour?

Cause that's how much some floor seats are going for in my Chi-town area venue, the Allstate Arena, on stubhub.com. Dude, I saw NSYNC there six years ago for $65! That's not all, though:

Floor tix in Florida $13,000+
Floor tix in flippin' OHIO $11,000+

This is cool and all for the men that were kids, but I just wanted a couple of seats, yo! I guess if I wanted some really cheap ones I could try to get the $22 seats in Nebraska.

Another Great Nerd Read

Duuuuuuuude, I gotta stop this...but I don't think I can. I'm watching more X-Files than ever, along with the Doctor and Angel, and when I'm not doing that, I'm...buying more comics??? Yes, it's true. This time I've ventured out of the Stephen King adaptations and the straight-to-print Buffies. I have actually bought a couple of DC comics based on a ComiCon '08 recommendation. Yes: hardcore DC comics. Starring who else?--Superman!

Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds was boss! Parallel worlds, evil Superboy, Legion of Superheroes & Villains, AND Superman!?! It's frickin' sweet. Yup: gettin' nerdier by the day...and I like it!

Back at It!

Summer is over, folks. :( I've been back at school for three days, and today was the first day with kiddies. The extra work is hampering my 'Lympics watching time, but I'm settling back into the school routine:

  • Up at 6:30.
  • In to school by 7:15.
  • Teach stuff til 10:30, then pretzel rod/Diet Pepsi break. Seriously, this is the snack that gets me through my day.
  • Lunch at 12:08 (I love school times).
  • Teach stuff til 2:55.
  • Grade stuff (or stare into space and try to gather myself) til 5:00.
  • Go home and ellipticize.
  • Din-dins at 7:00.
  • Get my TV watchin' done between 7:00 and 11:00.
  • Bed at 11:00.
How's that for riveting reading!?! Oh, don't kid me: I know you enjoyed getting to know my daily schedule.

31 Years Gone

Well, better late than never...

It's Elvis Dead Day #31. And as I sit here watching "That's the Way It Is" (original 1970 cut, not remastered 2001 junk), I get a deep down sad feeling. I wish I could truly appreciate what it meant to see Elvis live. I would love to have a time traveling DeLorean to do a few things, like visit the thick of the Civil Rights movement and watch Papa Hemingway write whilst drunk in Paris. But at the top of my short list would be to see Elvis live in Vegas in 1969/1970. His voice was at it's peak; his body was rockin'. I would find my mom and take her, and we would have an unbelievable time. Can you even begin to imagine the electrifying hum running through the audience before he took stage? And then, once he does, you feel an actual bolt of lightening go through your body! Oh, the raw energy he would send pulsating through the audience! I can only imagine. It would have been amazing.

But, here I sit, 31 years after he died...just imagining. *sigh*

Revisit #2: Michael Johns

And Kristy Lee Cook wasn't even in the Top 3 that week! Balls.

Revisit #1: Dr. Horrible

Too lazy to click on the links for Dr. Horrible? Well just click on the video to get a taste of NPH in Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. You won't be sorry...and it's only one minute 51 yo!

Just Wave Your Wand and be Done!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has been bumped to July 17, 2009. Balls. C'mon, Warner Brothers! These kids ain't getting any younger! Ron will be 30 before you finish this film franchise if you don't get those FX artists in gear. (Especially since the last book is being broken up into two movies, which is utterly ridiculous. It's called picking and choosing: give it a shot.)

I'm just really upset because now I don't have a birthday movie to go to (it was coming out the weekend before my birthday). Oh, well. I guess there's always Twilight to look forward to. If that gets bumped, I will officially scream...or at least send an angry letter...or, um, well...I'll just be really ticked off.

That's SIR Penguin to You!

A penguin from the Edinburgh Zoo in Scotland has been knighted! The penguin's name is Nils Olav...well, I guess that's SIR Nils Olav now. He also has medals for good conduct and long service. To read the whole story click HERE.

Oh, and how cute is that frickin' picture!?! Sir Nils Olav is making sure his guard is ready to go. Flippin' precious, I tell you.

The Block.

5 Days Left til School Starts

So what would YOU do??? Here's my plan for the day.
Yeah, that's right: I'm watching High School Musical. Right now in fact. Say somethin'! Man, this teen story gets better everytime I watch it. And that Sharpay is the perfect self-centered theater drama queen...Ah, I've known so many in my lifetime.
Will Roland and his Ka-tet find their Tower??? I don't know, but I hope I find out before school starts. With some little help from friends, like Ted Brautigan, how can they fail?
All the summer reading about vampires reminded me I still haven't finished season 2 of Angel! And I call myself a vampire fan! Season 2 is heating up, but Angel is no fun when he's in the depths of despair and desolation. I hope he snaps out of it quickly.
Oh, and let's not forget bout the 'Lympics! Women's gymnastics tonight, I think there's some diving on board (no pun intended!), and I'm still on the lookout for synchronized swimming. I love it!!!

BUSY...

...watching Phelps make history*! Mark who?

I'm watching the 'Lympics. Leave me a note...I'm busy. Oh, by the way, if you don't go gold, go home. Silver's the first loser. Bronze my butt. Who wants 'em anyway+?

*I still don't know. Eight golds? You gotta be kidding me. It'll be amazing if he pulls it off, though.
+If you don't get my sarcasm, stop reading. Any medal is awesome! Did you see the Men's Gymnastics team pull out their Bronze without any Hamm? AMAZING.

HOT AUGUST NIGHT!

It is flippin' HOT in the Paign, yo! Neil didn't sing about sticky, gross, unbearably hot August nights. Ugh. If I had Neil's suit on right now, it would be clinging to my sweaty, inert body. Seriously, do you know how hard it is to move when it's this hot? It felt like I was wrapped in a hot, damp towel when I went outside today. Does anyone feel me!?!

You know what's really smart when there's a heat advisory on? To go into an un-air conditioned classroom and start setting it up for the upcoming school year...but only idiots would do that. (Um, yeah, that's ME, if you didn't get it.) You know what's even better? Trying to teach kids who spend the ENTIRE summer in air conditioned houses in an un-air conditioned school where it's 90 degrees inside by 9 a.m. Ah, those are the days. You should try it sometime.

Yippee! Another Delayed Reaction Post!

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I was going to an American Idols concert. I also asked for you cynics out there, who don't enjoy pop music as much as I do, to reserve you harsh judgments and criticisms of moi. I'm here to tell you, two weeks later, that it was an AWESOME concert! I had a friggin' fantastic time with my girl, Lisa, in St. Louis.

Each Idol was counted down from 10 to 1, winner David Cook. I enjoyed nine of the ten. (If you remember Kristy Lee Cook, you'll know why I didn't want to hear her sing Lee Greenwood again.) And since they did appear in reverse order, I was shocked to be reminded of how early Australian Michael Johns was ousted from the contest. It was tragic-like to see him sing and THEN Miss Cook come out and belt her country-inspired (?) hits. Blechety-blech-blech on her! (Sorry to be hateful. It was just harsh to hear the soulful voice of Johns and then her weak, country twangs.) Johns sang an awesome threesome of tunes: We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions, Dream On, and It's All Wrong (But It's Alright). I want a Michael Johns CD stat. (I mean c'mon, he's already got four songs on his myspace).

David Cook was outstanding, and I can't wait for that CD. (After seeing the show, I for sure think it should have been David Cook and Michael Johns in the final, but like Simon always says, don't complain if you didn't vote.) Cook sang six songs, and he rocked the socks off of St. Louis. Lisa luuuuuuuuurved him! We had a great time, and don't judge us for wanting to have a good time...even if it was at an American Idol concert. ;)

Breaking Dawn Time, Baby!!!

You think Edward looks ticked off here? Just think what he'll look like when you don't buy "Breaking Dawn" at midnight. We wouldn't want to make Edward mad...or would we? :>

We've waited and waited, and tonight's the release of the fourth (and final) installment of Stephenie Meyer's wildly popular Twilight saga. If you've even glimpsed at this blog the last couple of months, you'll know we're BIG fans. The books may be ending, but the movies are just gearing up. Check back here for more Twilight movie news. And, I'll get the review up just as soon as I can...I know you'll all be waiting for that. ;)
