BingBongBoom!!!
A place for anything and everything that comes to mind.
Officially OLD
I've been waiting for pictures, courtesy of Sissy, until I posted about this next big concert event. And, since I received the pictures today, it's time the news became official:
I'M OLD.
We got to go see the amazing, diminutive, delightful Jenny Lewis in concert a couple of Fridays ago. (In fact, it was the night before the Cubs clinched the division. I think all dates will revolve around that.) Her voice wouldn't stop: so crystal clear and lovely live. The songs she played off her new CD, Acid Tongue, were absolutely ace. In fact, I'm gonna plump and say her sophomoric solo effort is better than her first.
However, 45 minutes into her set, after basking in her glory at the foot of the stage, we had to turn our backs and head for the back. Our late-20's feet couldn't take it any more (and the jerk that nudged his way in front of us blocking our view was too much to take). We spent the rest of the show seated in front of a fan in the back, sipping water, and still loving Miss Lewis. We just hope she forgives us for not staying up front with her the whole time.
CUBS CLINCH!!!
For the second season in a row, the Cubs have clinched the National League Central! We're off to the postseason, baby! And the best part!?! I was there to witness it!!! It was AMAZING...BREATHTAKING even. After that last out (courtesy of Kerry Wood), everyone started jumping up and down and singing "Go Cubs Go" at the top of their lungs. It was absolutely spectacular. And, if that wasn't enough, sweet baby Vince Vaughn threw out the opening pitch and sang the 7th inning stretch! How could it get any better than that? Oh, yeah, Eddie Vedder wrote a new Cubs song at the request of Ernie Banks...that's how it gets better!
Go Cubs!!! What a season! Could this actually be the year? We'll see.
When Cameron was in Egypt Land...
...he wrote a note of how awesome I am (and Sissy, too, of course).
Mega-huge thanks to Toddy for this most excellent early birthday present! I can't wait to print it and put it up in my classroom. It will also give me a good excuse to show the kiddies Ferris. I mean, c'mon, don't they need to learn how to play sick*?
*When you're bent over moaning and wailing, you lick your palms. Sure it's a little childish, but so is high school (or middle school in this case).
First Time Since '72
Cubs pitcher, Carlos Zambrano, just pitched his first no-hitter, and the Cubs' first no-hitter, since 1972!!! I knew you'd all want to know, so I had to post. And, the Brewers just lost, so our magic number is 7. What magic number? The number for us clinching the NL Central...duh! Keep up with your sports, yo! ;)
Thanks, Sissy!
My cousin, Kenna, sent me this awesome blog/website. You MUST check it out...especially if you love to cook, like me. Jack Black's interview is especially enlightening (loves him some sauce, he does), and his Dorito Burrito recipe sounds delectable (um, sort of...not really...but it made me laugh). It also has sweet Jenny Lewis on it...Can't wait to see her September 19 in Chitown. I do love her, but the sound of "yeast flakes" scares me. Here's the site:
It's Been Awhile...
...since there was a SMALLVILLE post!!!
Weeeeeeeell, Season 7 got off to a rocky start. Supergirl--not my favorite. Writer's Strike--stole the thunder and momentum. Tried watching re-runs to get caught up, but I was all confussed and confumbled. I wasn't even sure if I was going to get Season 7 when it comes out on Tuesday, for I've heard very shaky reviews on the whole season.
Then I remembered the great guest star spoilers I've heard: Helen Slater, Dean Cain, and everyone's favorite Jimmy Olson, Marc McClure (from the 1978 classic film, if you're confused). Couple the spoiler excitement with the fact that I've already re-watched Seasons 1-3 while working out on the elliptical, and I know I won't be able to help myself come Tuesday. I'm just psyched for more new adventures with Welling & Crew.
Besides...the SMALLVILLE collection just wouldn't look complete on my shelf with Season 7 missing. I just hope Supergirl doesn't annoy me too much. One more burning question: When will Clark get over Lana and start to wear the tights and fly? Maybe this season with new producers at the helm. (Cause Durance and Welling are H-O-T!!!)
Obama Taking Over the World???
I wonder how many supporters McCain has in Scotland?
My father-in-law sent me this awesome picture he took last weekend. While taking a walk around Fife, Scotland, he found this cottage in a small village, called Cellardyke, supporting Obama! How flippin' awesome is that!?! I just had to share with you, faithful few, because I feel we're all on the same page concerning the next presidential election.
Now, how do I get this to Obama's people without being ignored? Any ideas are welcome.
